The only way to begin is to hit Publish.

One of my favorite sayings is the traditional, very simple statement, "The only way out is through." To me it's not hopless, it's an affirmation that you must stay the course, and not give up, because giving up is the sure way to failure.

As I sit with my knee elevated and iced on February 26th, having finished my hourlong morning exercises recovering from patellofemoral arthroplasty (knee replacement) on my left knee, I'm reflecting back on how much time I've wasted getting this off the ground because of fear. Fear of doing. Fear of the unknown. Fear of what if this doesn't work. Fear of what if it works. I've changed the name. I've tried to learn SQL and Web development. I've tried to buy domains and ideas. All in the name of finding a voice.

My voice is my words, not my technology

I'm literally just trying to push publish on some stupid blog posts.

Welcome to Germanium Guillotine. Germanium is a rare earth element used in electronics. It's specifically used in vintage transistors in fuzz pedals to make them sound buttery, smooth, and organic, and each one is a little unique. The silicon ones are more consistent and give a beautiful predictable sound, the germanium ones are unique and unpredictable but can give a beautiful shine. A guillotine is a weapon of public rebellion. It's about people taking power and using it together against those hoarding it.

Germanium Guillotine is about using the music and message behind the music as a weapon against the forces around us threatening us.

Really, Germanium Guilllotine will be about what I want it to be about. At first, it's going to be about Metal, there will be album reviews, dives into scenes, focuses, whatever. I will try to not make it too heavy on reviews, there are a lot of reviews out there. It may be posts about songs or whatever. I don't know. It might be long nonsensical rants.

It's going to start in Canada.
